The Delhi University, school of open learning (DU SOL), is an integral part of the Delhi University, established in the year 1962. More than 150,000 are enrolled every year, making it one of the largest institutions of India with around 1,000,000 students. It is beneficial for the students preparing for competitive exams, as there is no compulsory attendance criteria required to be affiliated to this institution and for attending classes. 

The school offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses/programmes in the area of Commerce and Humanities. Most individuals living in outstation areas prefer having a graduation degree from this school as they are preparing for Civil services examinations. The college also has a study center at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi. A degree from SOL is equivalent in weightage as a regular degree from any other DU college.

SOL DU Admission : Acceptability criteria for Undergraduate (UG) courses 

B.A course/programme

1. The benchmark for DU SOL admission is mentioned underneath : 
2. 40% or above in exams is vital for general category candidates.
3. 36% or more is needed for Other Backward Classes category candidates.
4. A percentage of 38% or above is required for the PWD category.
5. However, for SC/ST category a candidate must have cleared 10+2 examinations. 

B.com courses/programmes 

1. The benchmark for DU SOL admission is as follows:
2. Either 40% or more marks in accumulation in any one licensed examination for general category candidates/students.
3. Either 36% or more for other backward class(OBC) category candidates.
4. Either 38% or above in accumulation for the PWD category.
5. For Scheduled Castes and  Scheduled Tribes candidates, minimum passing marks in any qualifying examinations is required.

B.A (hons.) Political Science course

1. The benchmark for DU SOL admission is as follows:
2. 50% or more in agglomeration in licensed examinations with one language and three scholastic subjects for general category candidates.
3. 45% or above in accumulation in licensed examinations with one language and three educational subjects for Other Backward Classes category students.
4. 47.5% or above in aggregation in licensed examinations with one language [only English] and three scholastic subjects for PWD category candidates.
5. For SC/ST candidates, minimum passing marks in 10+2 category is essential along with one language [only English] and three educational subjects.

B.A (hons.) English

1. The benchmark for for DU SOL admission for this course is :
2. 65% or more in total with minimum 75% marks in English as core subject or 65% marks in Elective or functional (One language at least (English only) and three academic subjects) English for general category  candidates.
3. 58.5% or more in agglomeration with minimum 67% marks in English as core subject in the licensed exam or 58.5% marks in Elective or functional (One language at least (English only) and  three academic subjects) English for Other Backward Classes category candidates.
4. 61.75% or more in accumulation with minimum 71.25% marks in English as a core subject in the licensed examination or 61.75% marks in Elective or functional (One language at least (English only) and three academic subjects) English for PWD category candidates.
5. For Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates, minimum passing marks in 10+2 category is required along with one language [only English] and three academic subjects.

Bachelor of Commerce (hons.) Course

1. The benchmark for DU SOL admission is as follows:
2. 55% marks or more in accumulation in the qualifying examinations, 60% marks or above in agglomeration in the vocational stream in the licensed examinations for general category candidates.
3. 49.5% marks or more in accumulation in the qualifying tests, 54% marks or above in the vocational stream in the licensed examinations for Other Backward Classes category candidates.
4. 52.5% marks or more in total in the qualifying papers, 60% marks or above in agglomeration in the vocational stream in the licensed examinations for PWD category candidates.
5. For Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes students, minimum passing marks in any qualifying examinations is required.

3. For admittance through entrance exam  based method the following eligibility is essential:
4. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A.(Hons)] in History from the DU with more than 50% marks and less than 60%. 
5. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A. (Hons)], History other than DU colleges with 55% marks.
6. Bachelor of Arts [B.A. (Pass)] from the University of Delhi with 55% or above marks and 55% in history.
7. Bachelor of Arts [B.A. (Pass)] from other universities/colleges than Delhi University with 60% or more marks in accumulation.
8. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A.(Hons)] in any other subject than history from other universities and Delhi University with 55% or above marks in the agglomeration.
9. Bachelor of Science pass/honors [B.Sc. (Pass or Hons)]Bachelor of Commerce Programme/honors [ B.Com. (Pass or Hons)] from any other university or Delhi University with 60% or more marks in accumulation. 
10. Master’s degree in subjects other than history from Delhi University or any other reputed university with 65% marks in Masters of Commerce or Masters in Science or with 55% marks in Masters in Arts or in other social sciences or humanities subjects.

M.A (Political Science)

1. The benchmark for DU SOL admission is as follows:
2. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A. (Hons)] cleared in Political Science from the Delhi University with 60% marks or more in honors. 
3. For admission through entrance test based method the following criteria is essential: 
4. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A. (Hons)] in  Political Science from Delhi University with 50% marks or more.
5. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A. (Hons)]  in Political Science from colleges/universities other than Delhi University with 55% marks or more.
6. Bachelor of Arts [B.A. (Programme)] from Delhi University with 55% or more marks having political science subject with at least 50% marks in Political Science.
7. Bachelor of Arts [B.A. (Pass)]  from universities/colleges other than University of Delhi with 60% in accumulation and must have political science as a subject with a minimum of 60% marks.
8. Bachelor of Arts honors [B.A.(Hons)] in Humanities and Social Sciences which includes Education, L.L.B, Journalism, Sociology, English etc. from Delhi University with 55% or above more in the accumulated score.
9. Bachelor of Science [B.Sc. (Pass or Hons)]Bachelor of Science [B.Sc. in Applied Sciences]from DU with 70% marks and Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com. (Pass or Hons)] from Delhi University with 75% or more marks in accumulation.
10. Bachelor of Science [B.Sc. (Pass or Hons)]Bachelor of Science [B.Sc. in Applied Sciences] from universities other than DU with 75% pf marks and Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com. (Pass or Hons)] from other universities with 80% marks in accumulation.
11. Master’s degrees in subjects other than political science from Delhi University  or any other reputed university with 70% marks in Masters in Science or Masters in Commerce with 75% and 55% marks in Masters in Arts in social sciences or humanities.
12. B.A. (Hons) in Humanities and Social Sciences which includes L.L.B, Journalism and Mass Communication Sociology, Geography, Philosophy B.El.Ed. etc. from other universities with 60% or more marks in the accumulated score.

M.A. (Hindi)

For pursuing this programme/course students need to score at least minimum passing marks in the bachelor’s degree. 

Masters in Commerce 

1. The basis for DU SOL admission through an entrance examination, or merit centered category is described below :
2. Graduate in B.Com (Hons) from Delhi University or other universities equal to DU with a minimum of 50% marks.
3. Graduate in B.Com (general) from Delhi University or other universities similar to DU with a minimum of 55% marks.

DU SOL Admission Procedure

Step 1 : Online Registration

• For this refer to the official website of the DU SOL.
• Click on the “New Applicant Sign Up” to create a new account by clicking on the “New Registration” tab.
• Enter the required details in the “Create New Account” page.
• Click on the “Create password” tab.
• Check all the details mentioned in the application form to make sure there are no errors whatsoever.
• Now, click on the “Register” tab.
• After the registration is over, candidates will be given a username and password.
• A confirmation mail of completing the registration process is sent on the registered email ID and mobile number.
• After you have been registered, move on to the “Continue to homepage” button on the page to proceed with the application procedure.

Step 2 : Filling up the Application Form

After registration, candidates have to tap on the “Continue to homepage” tab to move ahead  in the process and fill the following details in the DU SOL application form 2022.

1. Personal Details

• Your Name
• Mother’s name/Father’s name/Husband’s name (if married)
• Gender
• DOB (Date of Birth)
• PAN details/Aadhar Card Number
• Nationality
• Category (SC/ST/OBC), Person with disability (PWD), and Children/Widow of Armed Forces Personnel (CW)
• Correspondence Address
• Permanent Address

After entering these personal details, they are required to click on the “Submit” tab which will redirect candidates to the preview page displaying all the entered details. Click on the “Edit” button to make any change in the details. To continue and proceed with the application process, click on the “Next” tab.

2. Academic Details

Here, candidates have to fill the application form with the following details.

• Roll number as in Class 12th and under-graduation (for PG) examination admit card
• Year of Passing class 12th and under-graduation (for PG candidates)
• Marks obtained in Class 12th and under-graduation(for PG candidates)

Next, click on the ‘Submit’ tab after all processes are completed. This will take candidates to the preview page of the DU SOL 2022 application form. To make any changes in the academic details, click on the ‘Edit’ option. In case all the details are correct, click on the ‘Next’ tab to move onto the next step.

Step 3 : Course Selection

• Candidates can select number of courses they wish to apply for.
• Click on the ‘Next’ button after selecting the programmes.

Step 4 : Uploading the Documents

In this section, candidates have to upload the documents mentioned below. The documents must be uploaded in proper lighting and all the details must be visible properly to avoid later repercussions.

• Candidate’s latest passport-sized photograph.
• Students’ signature
• Self-attested copy of mark sheet of Class 10th and 12th, all the three years mark sheets of UG and certificate.
• Scanned copies of candidate’s migration certificate if they passed from state boards other than Delhi such as Rajasthan, UP, Bihar etc.
• Students applying under reserved categories such as SC/ST/PWD/OBC should submit the self-testament copy of reserved category certificate.
• Students applying for Financial Aid should upload a self-attested copy of the BPL ration card.

DU SOL Application Form 2022 – Documents Specification

Step 5 : Application Fee Payment

The mode of payment for the DU SOL admission application fee can be online mode. It must be noted that once the application fee is paid, no changes made in the application form.

• Fee for the UR/OBC category is INR 500
• Fee for the SC/ST/PWD category is INR 250

Step 6 : Confirmation

• After application fee payment is done, the candidate’s SOL registration number will be displayed on the screen along with a fee receipt.
• Candidates should download and print multiple copies of it for future use.

Step 7 : Download ID Card

• Click on the ‘Continue’ button to download the ID card.

Delhi university, School of Open Learning (DU SOL) gives students an opportunity to learn and graduate from the proximity of their homes without attending proper offline college classes.
