Overview

Kirori Mal College is a premier educational institute established in the year 1954 and is located on the north campus. It has been ranked 17th as per the NIRF rankings 2021. Many celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and KK have been alumni of the college. It is located right next to Hansraj College.

Sri Venkateswara College was established in 1961 and had its modest beginnings in the Andhra Education Society. It is located in Dhaula Kuan, south campus, and is often referred to as the SRCC of the south campus. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The college has been ranked 11th as per the NIRF rankings.

Both Kirori Mal College and Sri Venkateswara college are at par in terms of brand value. However, SVC has just recently surpassed KMC whereas KMC has a better legacy as compared to SVC.

Kirori Mal College is located on the north campus which makes it a preferred choice among students while Sri Venkateshwara is located in the south campus. Even though as per the NIRF rankings Sri Venkateswara college is ranked better than Kirori Mal College still many students prefer to take Kirori Mal College.

Kirori Mal College has a well-equipped library, a boon for students preparing for UPSC. The college has a laboratory, on-campus banking facilities, seminar rooms, computer labs, student common rooms, and a gymnasium. The college also offers on-campus housing with a capacity to accommodate 150 students. The college always has two doctors on campus. There is a canteen as well to cater to the food requirements of the students.

Sri Venkateswara College has an eco-friendly campus with 48 different species of birds. The college has a library, stationery shop, and photocopy shop to cater to the requirements of the students. It has a spacious library equipped with books in braille as well. It also has a bioinformatics centre which was inaugurated in 2006. The college has a cafeteria which is famous for its south Indian delicacies and a new snack counter called the ‘maggie point’ has also been set up.

Sri Venkateswara College has a better infrastructure as compared to Kirori Mal College. Moreover, it is located in south Delhi, in a posh area whereas KMC is located in north Delhi. Also for science-based courses, the college has a better-equipped laboratory as compared to Kirori Mal College.

Kirori Mal College is located on the north campus whereas Sri Venkateswara college is located on the south campus. Both colleges have their advantages and disadvantages but Kirori Mal college has taken over SVC in terms of campus.

Kirori Mal students have an edge as the north campus is the hub of DU students. They can easily attend fests and competitions happening in other colleges. However south campus colleges are scattered and lack the fun college vibe.

There is a general trend that north campus colleges are easygoing in terms of attendance and discipline. The same is the case with Kirori Mal College. There is no strictness in terms of attendance. Also, the college has a political influence so you can easily witness protests and the cancellation of classes is a common sight.

However, Sri Venkateswara college is a bit strict with attendance. Moreover, it is located in an army area so there is strict security in and around the campus. Venky has great provisions for sports.

Kirori Mal College has several societies such as NSS, NCC, placement cell, Debate society, music society, dance society, adventure club, etc. The college also has a civil society, especially for students preparing for UPSC. The college always puts its best foot forward in sports and has won many prizes at the national and international levels.

Sri Venkateswara College has a plethora of clubs and societies. These include dance society, music society, photography society, etc. Sri Venkateswara College has one of the best western music societies at Delhi university. There is also a CA club under the commerce department for students preparing for this exam.

Kirori Mal college’s placement cell is referred to as Avenues. The college had 135 recruiters and around 130 students were placed. Top recruiters included Genpact, PWC, KPMG, etc. The highest package stood at INR 19.25 LPA and the average stood at INR 6.02 LPA. The college has a two-phase recruitment procedure.

Top recruiters at Sri Venkateswara college were PWC, KPMG, Wipro, DE Shaw Co.etc. The highest package of the college stood at INR 19.25 LPA and the average package was 5.3 LPA. Round 148 placement offers were made to students.
